Carlsbad Surf Lessons

SoCal Surf lessons offers year round surf lessons in Carlsbad, San Diego CA near Oceanside and Encinitas. We teach men and women of all ages, the art and sport of surfing using safety minded techniques that are proven to work. All SoCal surf instructors were born and raised in Carlsbad, they have many years of ocean experience all around the world, we have professional surfers Che Stang and Rusty Friesen giving daily lessons, we have California state lifeguards, and all are certified CPR and first aid instructors. They are qualified surf instructors who will make you feel safe, comfortable, relaxed, and know how to have a good time.

History

SoCal Su Lessons was started in the summer of 04′ by a lifelong water man, three year California State Lifeguard, high class surfer, long time world traveler, and big wave surfer/bodyboarder named Rusty Friesen. With the help of his close friend and professional surfer Che Stang. They have developed their business into a year round operation in Carlsbad, CA and any other beach between San Diego, Ca and Oceanside, Ca. between Che and Rusty comes many years of world traveling, they have gained great knowledge and experience in wave riding. They have also shared their knowledge and experiences with over thousands of stoked surfers/students.

Che Stang

Che ( age 26 ) born and raised in Carlsbad, ca Che has been surfing since he can remember, getting his first sponsorship at 12 years old. He competed on the Carlsbad High School Surf Team, Che has dominated all his competition through his youth years.Che is currently on the WQS World qualifying tour were he competes all over the world against the top surfers in the world. Che is currently sponsored by Fox Racing, Surfride, SB Surfboards, and Dragon.He has been featured on covers of magazine’s, seen in many surf video’s, and featured on Fuel TV. Che has been with us from the beginning and is an experienced instructor with lots of lessons under his belt. Che’s love for the ocean and the sport which keeps him giving surf lessons throughout the year. ( Feel free to google Che Stang )

Rusty Friesen

Rusty ( age 26 ) has spent his whole life around the ocean. He was a California State Lifeguard for 3 years, won over 30 surfing competitions, been on covers of bodyboard magazines, and has a great love for the ocean and surfing. Rusty has traveled all over the world surfing places like Hawaii, Mexico, South Africa, Tahiti, Australia, Indo, New Zealand, and more. He is very experienced in all safety procedures that may arise at the beach. Rusty has also helped with coaching the Carlsbad Surf Team.  He has over 5 years of coaching students of all ages how to surf.

Justin Birks

Justin ( age 26 ) born and raised in Carlsbad, Ca. Justin grew up surfing North Carlsbad State beach ( were we hold our surf lessons) he has surfed out there over thousands of times and has experienced every surfing / ocean condition that comes through there. He has also helped Carlsbad High School surf team win 3 consecutive National championships. Justin worked as a California State lifeguard at the Carlsbad beaches for 3 straight years. He has also traveled to many surf destinations all over the world such as: Indonesia, Hawaii, Mexico, and South America. Justin has currently graduated from Cal State San Marcos. He has a great passion for surfing and the ocean, he would love to share all his surfing and ocean knowledge with you.

Chris Friesen

Chris ( age 21 ) has a passion for the ocean like nobody else. He started surfing about the time he took his first steps as a baby. He is one of the most talented surfers in San Diego. Chris lead the Carlsbad High School surf team to a National Championship, he has also won many surfing competitions. From his world surfing travels he has experienced all surfing and ocean conditions and wants to share them with you.
